How Instagram Earnings Work
Unlike YouTube or TikTok, Instagram doesn't pay creators directly for views (in most cases). Instead, income comes primarily from Brand Deals and Sponsorships.
The 1% Rule
A common industry standard is $10 per 1,000 followers, but this varies heavily based on engagement. Micro-influencers with high engagement often charge more than macro-influencers with low engagement.
Content Types
- Posts: The standard static image or carousel.
- Reels: Short-form video content. Currently the most valuable format due to high organic reach.
- Stories: Ephemeral content (24h). Usually priced lower but often sold in bundles (e.g., 3 frames).
Maximizing Revenue
To earn more, focus on building a specific niche audience (e.g., Fitness, Tech, Beauty) rather than a general lifestyle audience. Brands pay a premium for targeted reach.
